Mars Garcia is a Mexican-born cinematographer with a foundation in photojournalism and fine art photography, having exhibited work at The Queens Museum of New York and galleries across NYC. Their lens captures the raw, the surreal, and the deeply human.

Their narrative work spans a wide variety of projects, from The Chrononaut, starring Khalil Kain (Juice), to Heart of Lumber, featuring Disney’s Alice Kremelberg. On the commercial side, they’ve crafted striking visuals for clients like Captain Morgan and Ulta Beauty.

Mars was selected for the prestigious ASC Mentorship Program, where they are mentored by Sandra Valde-Hansen, ASC, LPS. As part of this program, they were awarded the Fresh Perspective in Cinematography Grant. Their mentorship circle also includes Scott Ramsey, gaffer of The Sixth Sense, and James McFayden, rigging gaffer of Severance.

Beyond cinematography, Mars has built a strong lighting background, serving as the gaffer on Clean, the Adrien Brody-led Tribeca selection. They are also an alum of AFI’s Cinematography Intensive for Women (2023).

Mars thrives on stories of resistance, identity, and transformation—unearthing the unseen and amplifying marginalized voices. They also love diving into the realms of magical realism and sci-fi, where the boundaries of reality blur and imagination takes flight.
